Who is the richest YouTuber in the world today and how much money did they make?

The richest YouTuber in the world in 2023 is Jeffree Star with a net worth of $200 million. His net worth is 4x larger than the second richest YouTuber, Ryan Kaji, who has a net worth of $50 million. Jeffree earned $15 million last year directly from his YouTube channel, with 16.5 million subscribers and 2.4 billion total views. But the bulk of his fortune comes from his cosmetics company, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, which pulls in over $100 million in sales per year.

Ever wonder how much money the biggest YouTube channels in the world make? We surveyed over 200 YouTubers with channel sizes ranging from a few thousand to hundreds of million subscribers and the results are, to put simply, astounding.

The biggest YouTubers today are mega celebrities and household names. In fact, earnings directly from YouTube are becoming a smaller and smaller percentage of their actual net worths. The richest YouTubers make more money from launching their own product lines, music labels, and other spin off businesses using their giant follower base as free marketing.

First, let’s take a look at the largest channels and the YouTubers who made the most money over the past year.

Methodology: How we ranked the richest YouTubers in 2024
There are many different ways to “rank” the richest YouTubers in the world. For instance, Bill Gates made a few videos on YouTube. Technically, he would be the “richest YouTuber of all time. However, one of our main criterias for making the richest YouTubers rankings was that the YouTuber must be a full-time YouTuber. The majority of their wealth and fame has to have come from YouTube. From there, we took the net worths, subscriber counts, view count, and YouTube earnings into consideration. The richest youtubers in the list are those that branched outside of YouTube, essentially using their massive followings to launch other businesses. These earnings were considered toward their ranking because it was an indirect result from growing their YouTube channel.

Here are the top 20 richest YouTubers in the world today.

  1. Jeffree Star – net worth of $200 million
  2. Ryan’s World – net worth of $50 million

Do YouTubers Have Higher Ad Revenues than TikTokers?

The biggest names that you can find on Tiktok are now starring in movies. They are selling out concert tours. And they are building big fashion businesses. Tiktok is now larger and more lucrative than ever, but it is still better to make people famous than to make rich people. There is a growing trend of sponsored content, Forbes says. Forbes estimates that between 30-50% of the highest earners’ revenue comes from sponsored content. The rates of sponsored posts on Tiktok have more than doubled since 2020.

There is some evidence that TikTok could get even larger, and that evidence is YouTube. A similar Forbes study from January found that Mr. Beast made more than the other top 10 TikTokers combined. That was the biggest amount of money ever earned by any YouTuber in one year. The 10 best YouTubers earned a total of $304.5 million last year, and Forbes estimated that half of that money came from YouTube ad revenues.

What Decides the Highest-Earning YouTubers?

According to Forbes, the highest earners on YouTube are vloggers, with videos of 15 minutes or longer averaging a payout of $6,000. According to data from a variety of sources, these YouTubers also tend to have an average of 1.5 million subscribers.

Top earners can earn as much as $9 million per year or over $100,000 per day. The median annual income for the top earners is $8 million.

The top-earning YouTubers are often the most successful entrepreneurs in their field.

There are several factors that contribute to a YouTuber’s success and how much they earn. These include:

Audience: How many people are watching the videos they upload and subscribe to their channel? The more people who watch your videos, the more money you can make. Some YouTubers may not be aware of how many people are watching their videos because they do not keep track of views or viewers; however, there are services like Tubular Labs that provide insight into these numbers.

Ad Revenue: What revenue do they generate from ads on their videos? Do they receive money from other sources like sponsorships? Revenue is a factor in how much each YouTuber makes; it is calculated by multiplying the number of views by the average ad revenue per view on YouTube (source).

Growth: How much growth has the YouTuber experienced? Growth is a measure of how fast the YouTuber’s subscribers are growing. This can be measured by the number of subscribers they have, as well as their viewership. The more growth a YouTuber experiences, the more money it can make.

Will YouTuber Surpass Netflix or Hulu?

Despite having more content creators, ranging from various genres such as gamers, bloggers, singers, etc, it is unlikely that YouTube will surpass Netflix in the near future. Netflix and Hulu have bigger investments and therefore put a lot more quality content. Most of their shows also have lots of potential to earn more via selling merch.

Are Highest-Paid YouTube Stars Always Trending?

When doing YouTube for the first time, it is unlikely that you will earn enough views to even trend on the first page of your YouTube homepage. Even the highest-paid YouTube stars are often struggling to get placed at the top 10 in their category.

A higher ranking on the trending page doesn’t necessarily translate to higher revenue. However, there are some YouTubers who are able to earn more from views on trending videos than from the rest of their channel.

There are several ways that you can boost your chances of being featured on a trending page. Some YouTubers may place a greater emphasis on how many subscribers they have, how many views they get, or even how many likes their videos receive. These types of factors often contribute to YouTube’s algorithm and can be what makes or breaks a YouTuber’s success.

In order to be featured on a trending page, it is important to focus on your video’s content rather than the number of views it receives. It is also important to have consistent content that users can relate to and watch repeatedly. If you have consistency in your content, you will have better chances of making it onto the trending page.

Her channel started as comedy skits where she made videos parodying popular YouTube videos. She also had a lot of videos where she simply told her audience stories about the different people she met. She made videos about everything from the difficulties of being a young woman to her relationship with her mother. The views and clicks you get on a video will affect the amount of money you make. YouTubers are paid out monthly and receive checks by mail or by depositing money into their bank account. You don't simply get money based on how many times someone views your video." } }]}
