The New York Rangers had another razor thin victory, but secured a 4-3 win in second overtime thanks to a point-blank shot from Vincent Trocheck. The Rangers were able to tie it up in the third with a shot from a wide-open Chris Krieder, but things almost ended differently.
Seth Jarvis aimed a shot right on target with less than two minutes of regulation, but Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin was locked in, and pulled off a save that could have won the game for Carolina.
The Hurricanes Special Teams continue to be a problem area for them. New York’s game-winning goal came on a Rangers power play during yet another failure for Carolina’s penalty kill.
